The idea behind the AAMI consensus reports is that they will “provide concise, prompt, and practical guidance on narrowly focused topics of high importance to the health technology community.” Consensus reports (CRs) are based on the collective experience and knowledge of a group of stakeholders, and the formal process of a standard is not applied to them. The first CR was rolled out to clarify the IEC 60601 standard series and is titled AAMI CR500:2019, Basic Introduction to the IEC 60601 Series.
